The Round Up: A Nashville Style Songwriters Round at the Holmfirth Tavern

The Round Up, hosted by Two Ways Home, is a Nashville-style songwriters round, a unique performance format where songwriters share the stage, playing their songs in turn and sharing the stories behind them. This intimate setting fosters collaboration, with artists often joining in on each other’s songs, offering a rare glimpse into their creative processes.

Featured Artists:

Joe Martin is a modern day troubadour. Now a seasoned singer songwriter having toured extensively around the UK and in Nashville on many occasions, playing some of Music City’s most renowned venues. Martin has co-written songs with industry veterans such as Johnny Garcia (guitarist of Garth Brooks) and Aaron Raitiere at RCA studios. His sound is deeply rooted in the classic American style, with storytelling and lyric a main focus of Joe’s songwriting. His debut album Empty Passenger Seat is out now and can be streamed on all music platforms.

"Superb melodies accompanied by a fantastic voice and outstanding lyrics." - Fatea Magazine

“The night I was at the Bluebird Cafe a young Englishman with a rich, resonant voice named Joe Martin seemed primed for bigger things.” - New York Times

Born in London and raised in the US, Katy Hurt was drawn to the sounds of Country, Americana and Southern rock from a young age, inspired by artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Sheryl Crow, The Eagles, and Patsy Cline.

Since her debut in 2016, Katy has released a string of critically acclaimed singles and EPs, showcasing her versatile range and has won accolades such as the UK Country Music Spotlight Awards for Female Vocalist of the Year, Best EP, Best Song and Best Video. She has also toured extensively, playing major festivals such as Country 2 Country at the O2 Arena, Pilton Party on Glastonbury’s famed Pyramid Stage and the Isle of Wight festival.

Katy spent time in Canada, which she now considers her second home, writing and recording a host of songs including some of her latest singles “Sounds Good In A Bar” and “Wish I Could Give You Up”, which both went to Number 1 on the UK iTunes charts on the day of release and were subsequently added to rotation on CBC, Sirius XM, KIX Australia and were play-listed on Amazon Music.

The tracks which were produced by Juno Award-winning producer Murray Pulver (Doc Walker, The Bros. Landreth) come from her soon to be released and highly anticipated debut album. With a rapidly growing fan base, Katy Hurt is poised to take the music world by storm with her authentic storytelling, genre-defying sound and undeniable talent.

Two Ways Home, the Anglo-Austrian duo of Isabella (Vienna) and Lewis Folkner (Gloucestershire), have crafted a unique sound blending folk-rock with a country twist. Inspired by artists like Lady A, The Lumineers, and Fleetwood Mac, their catchy melodies, lush harmonies, and rocky guitars have earned them extensive media coverage and radio play across the UK and Europe. After a 35-show UK tour in 2019, they were crowned “Artist of the Month” by Caffé Nero and again in 2023 after a standout performance at the Black Deer Festival.

Known for their dynamic live performances, Two Ways Home have played prestigious venues and festivals such as The Shard, Under the Bridge, C2C, The Long Road and Victorious Festival to name a few. Despite the pandemic, they focused on writing new material and performing online, winning ‘Best Duo/Group’ at the Country Music Spotlight Awards. Jess Thristan

In a genre that's increasingly inspiring female empowerment anthems and outspoken artists such as Kacey Musgraves and Mickey Guyton, comes Jess Thristan. Jess wrote her first song, “The Shield”, at the early age of 15 which, a couple of years later, ended up in the hands of A&G Songs with whom she signed her first publishing deal.

The year of 2019 saw Jess make her festival debut at award-winning Buckle & Boots, opening for Nashville's Kelsey Waldon, Jade Helliwell and Jess and the Bandits, as well as release her single The Old Me, heavily supported by radio DJ Baylen Leonard, Chris Country, Paul Sexton, Brad Paisley, BBC Introducing, Matt Spracklen and Spotify editorial playlists. Jess also gained support from none other than Country Music legend Shania Twain who added her cover of Keith Urban's Blue Ain't Your Color to her Kick-Ass Women of Country playlist and is fresh from playing Country 2 Country Festival, The Long Road and Buckle & Boots Festival in 2022.
